  23. subject line of all postings to rec.arts.tv.soaps.  For example:

  31. This will allow those who use rn or any other method of pre-selecting
  32. articles to determine whether they wish to read the article or not.  For
  33. information on these methods see the monthly Frequently Asked Questions
  34. posting by Margaret Gibbs (gibbsm@ll.mit.edu).  The FAQ is available for
  35. anonymous ftp from pit-manager.mit.edu in /pub/usenet/news.answers/tv
  36. /soaps/faq or send email to mail-server@pit-manager.mit.edu with 
  37. "send /pub/usenet/news.answers/tv/soaps/faq" as the body of the message.

  39. Remember that if you want to write about, for example, AMC and GH in the
  40. same article, half of your intended audience may filter out whichever
  41. abbreviation you put first.  In such a case you should use the network
  42. abbreviation or, as a last resort, post the article twice.

  68. Many of the soap subgroups use the abbreviation TAN (for tangent) to
  69. indicate postings which don't necessarily have to do with that soap but
  70. which should be addressed to that subgroup.  General intra-group banter can
  71. then be differentiated from actual information and commentary on that soap. 
  72. The TAN abbreviation should always follow the soap abbreviation, as in the
  73. following example:

  77. Discussion threads which stray off the topic of the soap should be renamed
  78. to include the TAN indicator.
